ODE TO PORT OF SPAIN
These photographs were part of a visual essay I was invited to present at the opening of the 2nd Caribbean Conference of National Trusts and Preservation Societies at the Trinidad Hilton in May.
My intention in the essay, and through this video sample of that presentation, is to give a glimpse of the many worlds which converge in Port of Spain, to contemplate the unique juxtapositions which make this home capital city of mine such a very interesting place, full of history, full of character, full of beauty in the midst of all the hustle.
Through Carnival I discovered the architecture of the city that made great backdrops for photographs of carnival heritage. With that perspective as my starting point I immersed myself in the city for a few months earlier this year and these are some of the images emerged.
